Q: What is your background?
A: I’m from Medina; I grew up there, live there now. I went to school at Oswego, and got my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and forensic science. I went to the Academy in 2019 through the sheriff’s office part-time and worked two years on the marine patrol. I ended up going full-time with the City of Lockport for a few months and then came back here last September.
Q: What made you want to enter law enforcement?
A: I grew up in a law enforcement household; my dad is a Medina police officer, my mother works for New York State Parole, so, this is the only thing I ever wanted to do.
Q: What made you want to be a resource officer?
A: I believe that I have the ability to connect with the kids and help bring light to the job in itself, while also ensuring their safety. It takes a special person, I think, to be able to connect, to be able to be in this setting.
Q: What do you want to accomplish as a resource officer?
A: I think, at least bringing light to what we do, trying to bring more awareness to the job and maybe draw up some people who want to do it. Also ensuring that we get through the year safely and that we look to grow as far as our safety is concerned.
Q: What are you most excited for this year?
A: I am most excited for every day that I get to come in here and see the smiling faces of all the kids, and also for making a difference.
Q: Is there anything else you want to add?
A: I just want to thank everybody for welcoming me into the family as a Medina person; it means a lot to me.
