Cencere Lowe will be representing Albion Central Schools (ACS) this weekend as he competes in the NYS Championships.
This spring, Cencere long jumped 23'2.25 feet which not only set a new ACS record, but a new Niagara Orleans League Record as well. The N/O League record was set at 23'0.5 feet by Marcell King in 1995. The ACS record had been set at 22'10.75 feet by Tyrone Newsome in 2005.
As the coach for the long and triple jump this year, Bridgette Varin says she is really proud of what Cencere has accomplished this year.
“He has amazing athletic abilities and he has increased his focus and his mentally toughness which has allowed him to achieve some really incredible jumps,” Varin said. “I am excited to watch him compete again this weekend!”
Purple Eagle Athletic Director Mariah LaSpina agrees saying, “Cencere has undoubtedly earned this accomplishment with all of his hard work and dedication throughout the season. Cencere, go out there and give it all you have! Know your Purple Eagle family is proud of you and cheering you on!”
Chanyce Powell was the last Purple Eagle to compete in States back in 2016 placing 4th in Triple Jump and 6th in Long Jump.
Best of luck, Purple Eagle!
