Albion Central School District (ACSD) has received federal funding from:
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) $653,215
Federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act $1,958,799
American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act $4,402,336
ARP-State Reserves $2,601,999
This temporary influx of funds totals $9,616,349 for ACSD. The funds may be spent from the start of the COVID-19 shut-down, March 13, 2020, and depending on which allocation, must be spent by September 30, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The purpose of these federal stimulus funds is to support the district moving through and out of the pandemic. These funds are accounted for separately from the general fund operating budget as a grant, and they are meant to be non-recurring expenditures that support the maximizing of in-person instruction.
The ARP plan was developed by considering input from district stakeholders, including a survey that was provided to families, staff and community members, and then prioritizing spending on non-recurring expenses in the following areas:
Safely returning students to in-person instruction;
Maximizing in-person instruction time;
Operating schools and meeting the needs of students;
Purchasing educational technology;
Addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students, including impacts of interrupted instruction and learning loss, and the impacts on low-income students, children with disabilities, English language learners and students experiencing homelessness
Implementing evidence-based strategies to meet students’ social, emotional, mental health and academic needs
Offering evidence-based summer, afterschool, and other extended learning and enrichment programs; and
Supporting early childhood education.
