Students from the middle school multimedia club and the high school technology club recently competed at Tech Wars held at Genesee Community College.
Nearly 800 students from 24 schools across the region competed at the 14th annual event. Abby Kipler, Brilee Seewagen, Bradley Pierce, Jose Geronimo, Dalmas Weese, Aries Webster, Lena Grillo, Kamryn Peruzzini, Kendall Peruzzini, Logan Mayes, Korey Weslowski, Eleanna Coley and Freedom Matthews represented Albion from the middle school. From the high school, Chris Sacco, Jason Conn, Aly Snow, Natalia Coley, Dylan Roath, Dakota Antsey, Dalton Dexter, Isaac Hickman, Zach VanCott, Amiley DeBoard and David Stritzinger all took part.
Pierce took home first place in the technical drawing competition. Natalia Coley placed 14th out of 40 competitors in the Co2 car race. Roath and Antsey built a 6th-place winning bridge that held 350 pounds.
Students also competed in other events such as sculpture, Co2 design, mystery, logo design, catapult/trebuchet, paper airplanes, regatta, skimmer cars and more.
Tech Wars provides students with a competitive avenue to practice and learn STEM skills - science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The middle school multimedia club is led by Ms. Vilinsky and the high school technology club is advised by Mr. Syck.
