The NAMM Foundation recently announced the results of its 11th
annual survey for the “Best Communities for Music Education.”
For the third year in a row, Albion Central School was included
as one of the top 174 school districts in the nation. The NAMM Foundation
acknowledges schools and districts across the United States for
their commitment and support of music education in schools.
Mary Luehrsen, Executive Director of NAMM Foundation said; “As
the economy hinders state and local budgets to adequately support
music education, the 174 school districts named by the NAMM Foundation
demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing music education
to their students. This year’s roster represents 30 states,
with a record 74 districts from New York earning the designation.
Past designees have benefited by receiving this mark of excellence.
This year’s economic environment is challenging for many communities
and having earned this designation shows that schools are working
hard to keep programs strong in the midst of some of the deepest
education cuts seen in decades.”
The NAMM Foundation’s mission is to ensure that all children
have access to quality music education programs that encourage lifelong
participation in music making. We celebrate these communities that
are committed to providing access to music education programs and
bettering the lives of their students. Congratulations to the A.C.S.
Music Department for achieving this honor for the third year in
a row! Their hard work and dedication have resulted in record numbers
of students participating and excelling in the music program. Many
of our graduates choose to pursue some form of music during their
college career.
