Varsity Season Record 13-6

Varsity Season Summary

The 2009-2010 Boys Varsity Basketball Team finished with a winning record of 13-6. The Purple Eagles were lead by senior Justin Swanger with 17 ppg, 2.8 spg, and 5.2 apg, which earned him 1st team all league honors. Senior Brad Rush was awarded 2nd team honors scoring 14.5 ppg, grabbing 10.2 rpg, and was Albion's top defender. Senior Russell Craft earned all league honorable mention adding 13.4 ppg and 10.4 rpg. Senior Matt Monacelli dished out 3.4 apg, 2.5 spg and was a key defender, leading the team with 12 charges taken. Other seniors that were a huge part of our success are Hank Dragon, Jacob Liddle, and Kenny Boyer. Returning juniors that will be a key players next year are Matt Webster, Mike Haight, and Shyheim Rhodes. Coach Croff said: “It was a pleasure coaching this fine group of young men. All their hard work and dedication will be forever appreciated. These seven seniors are irreplaceable and will be greatly missed.”

2010 Albion JV Boy’s Basketball Summary:

The boys finished 10-4 in Niagara/Orleans League play and 12-6 Overall. The boys played hard all year and really shored up a great season by beating the number one seeded JV team (Alexander 16-1) in the Greater Rochester / Niagara Orleans Showcase Tournament 55-40. Elliot Foos led all players with 214 Points, 208 Rebounds and 18 Blocks. Travis Downs held down the point guard position by scoring 174 points (21 - Three-point baskets), dishing 54 assists and swiping 62 steals. Nick Santos (148 points, 74 Rebounds, 33 Steals), Pete Nesbitt (110 Points, 103 Rebounds, 36 Steals), Ryan Golden (92 Points, 110 Rebounds, 17 Charges), Chris Reed, Alex Barleben & Connor Barleben, Tre Allport, Steve Holler, Jackson Hamilton and Marquise Riddick all contributed significantly throughout the season. The Mr. Purple Eagle (Character Award) goes to Alex Barleben, The Highest Points award goes to Elliot Foos (214), Best Defender goes to Peter Nesbitt, and Most Improved Award goes to Travis Downs.
